Some copied from originals and others I created.
As a little girl I loved to draw, but never had the confidence to continue, until one day as an adult, I decided to try again. Even now I find it difficult to paint/draw things from my own imagination, but I'm pretty good at copying.
I visited the Smithsonian in DC many years ago, where I watched university students copying masterpieces. I learned it was a requirement for the class, and since then I've not felt bad about doing the same thing.
It teaches me about color, composition, shadows, and shape, etc.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE this Blog Penny and think you are a wonderful artist!!! You have 2 more great paintings that should be here -- the green baby (by Jensen-Van Gogh) and the Jensen-Cezanne house in the woods. They're both hanging in my kitchen & make me think of you.
